An amazing story of hope, resilience, and faith
Kimberly Michelle Ford, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, has devoted much of her life to helping others heal, restore, and discover the freedom that comes from tending to both their spiritual and emotional well-being.
Her passion for this work was born from her own journey. After giving her life to Christ as a young child, Kimberly experienced significant trauma and adversity that would profoundly shape her early years. Childhood sexual abuse, an unstable transition into adulthood, unhealthy relationships, and seasons of personal hardship led her down paths far removed from the life she once imagined for herself.
Yet even during those years, Kimberly believes the hand of God remained upon her life.
As a young adult, she made the decision to leave behind a lifestyle that no longer aligned with who she believed God was calling her to become. She rededicated her life to Christ and began what would become a lifelong journey of healing, restoration, personal development, and service to others.
As Kimberly rebuilt her life, she also established a successful professional career while continuing to feel a deep calling toward people who had experienced trauma, displacement, broken relationships, and difficult life transitions. Rather than separating her own painful experiences from her purpose, she began allowing the lessons of her journey to inform the way she served others.
In 2007, Kimberly released her first book, The Core: It’s All Inside, an autobiographical work addressing themes of sexual abuse, domestic violence, abandonment, homelessness, resilience, faith, and restoration. The book marked the beginning of a body of work that would eventually expand far beyond her personal story. Over the years, Kimberly continued her professional development and built an extensive career spanning corporate leadership, workforce solutions, vendor and relationship management, and public service. At the same time, her ministry continued to evolve through writing, teaching, speaking, community outreach, and creating spaces for others to heal. What began as one woman sharing her testimony gradually became a much larger assignment: helping people move beyond survival, care for the condition of their souls, and experience restoration from the inside out.
“Getting back up isn’t always easy, but there is more within you than the trauma you’ve experienced. Trust your strength. Honor your resilience. And believe that you still have what it takes to rise.”
Kimberly’s commitment to service eventually led her into community outreach, where she became deeply involved in serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, and significant life transitions throughout metro Atlanta. Through years of volunteer leadership and hands-on ministry, she developed a particular compassion for people navigating the difficult space between where life had taken them and where they still believed they could go.
Kimberly often describes people experiencing homelessness as simply living life “between dreams” — reminding others that any of us can find ourselves one circumstance away from hardship and, equally, one breakthrough away from something greater.
As a descendant of 5 generations of pastors and ministers, Kimberly’s own call to ministry eventually became undeniable. In 2011, she was ordained and became the first licensed female minister in her family’s history — a defining moment that brought new meaning to both her personal testimony and her commitment to serving others.
Her ministry continued to grow through outreach, teaching, writing, speaking, mentoring, and advocacy. Drawing from both her lived experiences and years of serving others, Kimberly became passionate not only about helping people overcome trauma and adversity, but about teaching them how to build healthy, whole lives beyond what they had survived.
In 2017, that passion led to the founding of My FreedomSoul, LLC, a faith-centered platform created to support healing, restoration, personal growth, and emotional and spiritual freedom. Through books, small groups, community outreach, speaking engagements, workshops, and transformative experiences, Kimberly began creating spaces where people could safely examine their stories, rediscover their identities, and pursue lives no longer defined by what had happened to them.
Over time, however, Kimberly recognized something deeper within the work.
Freedom was not simply about getting free. It was about learning how to live free.
Healing required more than surviving trauma. People needed permission and practical tools to care for their inner lives — to examine their emotional wellness, relationships, boundaries, identity, faith, rest, peace, and connection with themselves and with God. That revelation became the foundation for the next evolution of Kimberly’s work: Soul Health Matters.
Today, Soul Health Matters expands the conversation beyond trauma recovery into a more holistic approach to emotional and spiritual wellness. Through teaching, coaching, books, music, meditation, intimate RESET experiences, speaking, and meaningful conversations, Kimberly encourages people to become intentional caretakers of their souls. Lady Kimberly’s message is rooted in a simple but transformative belief: Your Soul Health Matters.
And at the heart of her work remains a principle Kimberly has learned through both experience and service: “When we care for the soul, the soul cares for the body.” Her life's work is no longer defined solely by what she survived, but by what those experiences taught her about restoration, wholeness, faith, emotional wellness, and the sacred responsibility of caring for the soul.
