It’s never easy to awaken from the broken dreams of a failed relationship. When we lose loved ones to untimely death, many times the nightmare only begins. Yet, once we face the reality that the expectations we once had will never be met, it’s essential that we find the courage to gather the fragments of our hearts and start believing again. When we are in the honeymoon phase of a new relationship, our hearts are beating so loud that each individual beat can be heard –even in a large crowd. However, on our journey to finding our soul mates, we must work through the relationships that prepare us for them. This means we must endure the agony of ending those relationships that just don’t work. We can love a person so wholeheartedly, that even when we see the end coming –we attempt to ignore it. Once the dust has settled, the arguments have stopped, and the phone stops ringing we are instantly aware of the silence. The harder we fight to ignore the sting of a failed relationship, the louder the silence in our heart becomes.
Over time, we are privileged to have intimate encounters with others. In return, we learn more about ourselves. It’s like looking into a mirror. As we progress through the life-cycle of love, we grow –we change—and we find the strength to move forward. As we are propelled forward, we find ourselves stronger and wiser than when we began. The greatest gift of life is the ability to connect and impact one another’s lives on a level deeper than the surface. As we evolve and become all that God has created us to be, we must embrace the truth that we don’t all grow at the same rate, or in the same direction. Once when we have traveled as far as we can together, we must recognize when it’s time to let go.
