PURSUIT OF PRAYER

How often have we faced an obstacle that brought us to our knees in prayer for God to work it out and then find ourselves a week later skipping past prayer? It's even more amazing how some people look for change but never do anything different. I sometimes wonder "How do individuals who don't know God endure the trials of our world and never get on their faces before God and pray?" Even more sadly, "How do even we, those who say we know and love Him, get so conditioned in our daily routines and manage to only leave God the leftover scraps of our day?" We drive by and say "hi" without giving Him the attention and adoration He deserves from us.

This past weekend, I watched God resolve an issue in my favor. After spending several hours in tears and  feeling like it was the end of the road, I finally got back to the posture where God would have me, in prayer. It wasn’t easy and I even found myself questioning His promises. You do know that we are not exempt  from our faith being tested, right??? Need I remind you of our Uncle Job? Now, this did not begin with my own lips moving. I just didn't have the words to say. Sometimes God will orchestrate the events of our lives that cause us to enter in a secret place where only He can speak. A place where we have run out of ideas, resources, out of words, and out of  answers. In my darkest valleys and my hottest hells, I have found myself time and time again in a place where only He could resolve the problem.  Most times in the past I would come up with some type of plan, or blueprint to change an adverse situation. Hey, I am created in His image which means I am a creative person, right?  But even with God-given creativity, we can detour from His perfect will. Our creativity was never meant to help us avoid the certainty of walking in the valleys He intended to grow us.

This morning after 6am prayer, within a few hours an answer came and the door was opened for me to move from adversity to victory. I was reminded this morning that without prayer you can possibly remain in the valley much longer than He intends for you to be there. Many times when we find ourselves in a conflict,  it is not that God wants you to do anything---but pray. It's naturally hard to remain still and pray when you feel like everything around you is falling to pieces. Our human instincts tell us "Don't just sit there..get-up and do something." But the Holy Spirit would have us to do otherwise: Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. (Exodus 14:13) No matter where you find yourself, prayer will be the key that unlocks the doors that God wants to open for you. Prayer will move you instantly from the valley to the mountain top.

Let’s have an amazing week in prayer.
